Vassiliki: Mediterranean Destination for Windsurfing and Watersports
Vassiliki is a pictoresque village located at the centre of South Lefkada, around the natural bay of Vassiliki. It is the ideal destination for watersports, especially windsurfing. There are many things to do in this nice fishing village but if you want to enjoy watersports follow my suggestions!
Windsurfing lovers
Windsurfing is the most famous watersport in Vassiliki, which is internationally recognised as one of the Leading Windsurfing Resorts in Europe. The wind blowing in the afternoon, called “Eric”, creates the perfect condition to ride the waves. This is why there are windsurfers from all parts of the world. There are also windsurfing competitions. July and August are the busiest months of the year. In the morning you can take lessons from one of the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) accredited windsurf centres. You can find the instructors at the camps and clubs overlooking the bay. In the afternoon you can ride the waves!
I recommend 2 places for taking windsurfing classes:
- Club Vass. It is one of the best windsurfing centre. If you are planning your holiday in Vassiliki visit the website cause they often have good offers. A walk-in lesson costs €50 (it includes a 1 hour lesson with a max. of 5 people + 1 hour practice time). Beginner lessons operate in the morning from 10.30am. If you are a windsurfing expert you can hire the kit for 1 hour and it costs €40.

Other watersports
If you choose to try other watersports I like wakeboarding in the morning, and sailboats and catamaran in the afternoon, just because the wind is stronger. Kitesurfing is another choice but the best beach for this watersport is Agios Ioannis where a lot of kitesurfers, from all clubs, meet. If you want to discover the beauty of the bay choose scuba diving or kayaking! Are you ready to live the excitement of these amazing watersports?
